President & Chief Executive Officer

Debra is founding President and CEO of Palo Alto Health Sciences. Since joining PAHS in 2013, Debra has grown the company by establishing relationships with leading Payers and Employers while overseeing the development and launch of the next generation Freespira treatment for panic. She has led the programs to expand PAHS’ evidence base with clinical trials for PTSD and adolescents.

Debra brings a unique blend of experience to her role at PAHS, having both successfully led early stage ventures and with her expertise in respiratory physiology. Debra is an experienced healthcare CEO with a passion for companies that develop products and services to improve people’s lives. She has broad operational and leadership roles in start- ups, corporate and nonprofit organizations.

Debra has a successful record of fundraising from venture capital, angel investors and non-profit donors and significant experience working with government agencies, such as FDA and CMS in overcoming regulatory & reimbursement obstacles. Previously, Debra worked with Exploramed, a Bay Area incubator, to develop a women’s health product. From 2001-2010, Debra was founding President, CEO and Board member of Novasys Medical where she led the development, launch and commercialization of the Renessa® treatment for female stress urinary incontinence. Prior to Novasys, Debra was Vice President and General Manager at Tyco Inc. (Mallinckrodt, Nellcor Puritan Bennett, Nellcor). Early in her career Debra was Assistant Director of Respiratory Care at Loyola University Medical Center in Chicago.

Debra holds a B.A. in Applied Behavioral Sciences, an MBA and R.R.T credentials, as well work at Stanford’s executive management programs. She has been a guest entrepreneur for 5 years as part of an HBS case study, and supports entrepreneurs through her work with Astia and with CSweetner as a mentor to female executives.

Simon Thomas

Simon joined Palo Alto Health Sciences in December 2013 with significant broad-based experience in the medical device field.  Simon has successfully developed and commercialized numerous innovative technologies, from concept stage through established commercialization.  Most recently Simon was Sr. VP Operations and Engineering at Home Dialysis Plus (HD+), focused on a next-generation hemodialysis system for home use. Prior to HD+, he served as VP of R&D, RA/QA and Operations at Novasys Medical where he was responsible for the development, launch and manufacturing of the Renessa treatment.  He was also Sr. Director of R&D at Nellcor, where he led the development and regulatory filing (PMA) for the N-400 Fetal Pulse Oximeter. He was VP of Engineering at GE/Marquette Medical Systems (Corometrics) focused on fetal and newborn monitoring systems, including home-based products.   At Novametrix, Simon developed new physiologic gas monitoring technologies (including EtCO2 and pulse oximetry) for use on adults and neonates.

Simon holds numerous patents and a BS with Honors in Physics from Imperial College of Science and Technology in London.

Chief Clinical Officer

Robert has over 30 years of clinical and business development experience in the mental health arena.  He previously was the interim CEO of JSA Tele-psychiatry and Senior Vice President of Diamond Healthcare. Robert has over 10 years’ experience designing and implementing telemedicine programs throughout the United States. He is also a co-author of”Implementing Telemedicine” and chapters “The Role of Tele-psychiatry” in Behavioral Emergencies for the Emergency Physician, Cambridge Press & “Telepsychiatry and e-Mental Health” in Handbook of Community Psychiatry, Springer Science.

Robert completed his undergraduate degree in Psychology at the University of New Orleans before completing his M.A., Ph.D. at Louisiana State University, majoring in Clinical Psychology with a Minor in Behavioral Neurology. He received his Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Psychology from the Menninger Foundation, Topeka, Kansas. He continues to run a highly successful private practice in Bellaire, TX.

Chief Growth Officer

Nancy has over 30 years of experience in the healthcare services industry with a focus on creating go-to-market commercialization strategies for entrepreneurial healthcare organizations. She has a proven track record building and leading global sales and account management teams, setting growth and expansion strategies and overseeing the development of relationships with employers, payers and consultants.

Prior to joining PAHS, Nancy was a Senior Vice President of Global GPS Strategy at Nant Health where she was responsible for creating and executing a global go-to-market strategy, building out a sales and account management team, and signing numerous payer, employer and health system clients.

From 2010 to 2016, Nancy served as Senior Vice President of Global Business Development with Best Doctors overseeing revenues in excess of $100 million and growing revenue by more than 24% annually. Before joining Best Doctors, she was Vice President of Health Management Corporation/Anthem and successfully created a commercial sales strategy that resulted in $15M in contract sales in two years.

Nancy has served in various leadership roles at CorSolutions, one of the pioneer organizations in the disease management space. She was one of three Co-founders, and the company was later sold to Matria with revenues in excess of $150M.

Nancy received a Bachelor of Science degree from Syracuse University in Biology, and a Medical Technology degree from Jersey Shore Medical Center.

Rochelle is a trained clinical social worker who brings over 35 years of sales, account management, and consulting experience within the healthcare industry. Her expertise includes creating and implementing go-to-market solutions for fast paced entrepreneurial organizations. She has consistently demonstrated success in exceeding revenue targets and creating new channels to drive sales for employers and health plans.
Prior to joining PAHS, Rochelle was Vice President, New Business Development at Best Doctors where she was responsible for selling directly to employers. In that role, she created and launched the company’s first consultant strategy. She then created a new vertical selling directly to health plans, exceeding revenue targets within 18 months.

During 2000 – 2008, Rochelle held the role of Vice President, New Business Development for three different organizations – Health Management Corporation/Anthem, CorSolutions, and NaviMedix. Each time, she consistently exceeding her revenue goals by solution selling to large employers and health plans.
Rochelle worked as a management consultant for Towers Perrin from 1996-2000, and was the lead consultant on the Behavior Health Team. In this capacity, she partnered with Fortune 500 companies to evaluate behavior health needs and implement innovative solutions.

Rochelle received a Bachelor of Science degree from Kalamazoo College and a Masters in Social Work from the University of Michigan.

Sheila McCormick

Marketing Executive in Residence

Sheila McCormick is a healthcare senior executive who began her career in marketing and innovation roles for Payers (BCBSA, WellPoint/Anthem, Cigna) where, among her varied responsibilities, she was the marketing and communications lead for the Innovation/M&A team at WellPoint helping to make very early investments in online health, consumer engagement, data and wellness. Sheila also led consumer engagement for WellPoint and social health strategies for Cigna when these concepts were in their infancy. From there she moved into Chief Marketing Officer roles at Fortune 100 and growth healthcare companies, leading both enterprise and direct-to-consumer marketing, engagement strategy, corporate marketing and stakeholder communications for regulated and unregulated digital health companies (Verizon Mobile Health, MDLIVE and higi). She is a hands-on leader and has been “in the trenches” as a member of multiple leadership teams building connected health companies and participating in capital raises totaling over $125M.

Sheila completed Harvard Business School’s Executive Education Program and received her B.S. in Marketing from Ferris State University.
